Daniel Swanepeoel

Swanpeoel was born in Johannesburg South Africa in 1973. Swanepeoel's artistic talents manifested from a very young age; he enjoyed dressing up, drawing and eventually playing with Barbie dolls. These were in part due to autism but also mostly due to the stress of an abusive home and the heavy political overtones of 70’s and 80’s South Africa. His art was an escape and can still be. Swanepeoel attended art school and graduated in 1991. Then in the early 90’s, started studying Jewellery Design and Manufacture. Swanpeoel has been a custom manufacturing jeweller since. In 2012 he also began expanding his creativity into digital art.

Digital art has a message of “thinking out of the box” and mixes hope and faith to inspire a positive outlook on the future. Swanpeoel's digital art is deliberately done with the style and look of oil on canvas or watercolour, with the intent to look like a hand rendered painting. People are often amazed to see him do his digital art using only a mouse.

Each piece is specifically inspired to engage the thoughts and heart of the viewer in such a way as to stir deeply and to hopefully uplift the soul. The surreal subjects are if nothing else very interesting and the colours are beautiful. In the right environment the artworks will definitely catch the eye, if not purposefully affect the mood of the room. The artworks are created using a mix of hand rendering, digital rendering and photography then collaged as digitally finished works.
