Your work has the same sort of approach to Nan Goldin's, which interests me greatly. Do you think as a part of your process with photography, you have to be in a close relationship with the person you're capturing?

Personally no, not from the start. I like to start off as a stranger to them with them very little previous interaction before the images have been taken then as time goes on this becomes a progressive series. The idea of documenting a bond between two people as always been a use of photography that fascinated me greatly because it captures the little details we often overlook during this period of time irrespective of the end bond. Funny enough though throughout my work Nan Goldin had always been this aspiration to one day have work like her's beaded into my work so this makes me realise maybe I have started to do that ready.

You say there is a 'patchwork' of people. How many do you think you got to capture over the project overall?

Honestly, I could not give you an answer really because this work style has been the basis of my life since the get-go, about 10/11 years now. To actually give an answer within 2020 I would say between 30 and 50 people off the top of my head. While it was a very strange year it opened up a lot of networking and friendships to me both from in-person shoots to those done over Zoom. During allowed times as well as seeing family members whos photo's I rarely held before that year. The ambiguity on how many people I have documented add's to the lack of scale within my work, I do like playing with this asepct.

Why did you choose the camera over something esle, such as painting or drawing? As a photographer/filmmaker I always find this so interesting to think about.

I like the ability to work at a seconds notice. To be able to grab my tools and go - A camera as a tool allows me to do this effectively without having to worry too much about the weather or the time of day, it is a complex item that allows so much simplicity to become of what I use it for. Brands, costs etc do not matter to me it is not what I focus on so I am able to pick up any camera and use it to create what I intend. To me, in general, the use of a camera is the strongest tool I could use to create the images I envision.
